Privacy Policy — Horizon Torrent

Last updated: July 12, 2026

Overview

Horizon Torrent is a BitTorrent client app for Android, built with Flutter and a native libtorrent (C++) bridge. This Privacy Policy explains what data the app stores, what it does not collect, and an important disclosure about how the BitTorrent protocol itself exposes your IP address to other participants in a torrent swarm.

1. Data You Provide to the App

Horizon Torrent lets you provide:

All of this is stored exclusively on your device, using Android's standard app-local key-value storage (shared_preferences). Horizon Torrent has no backend server, no user accounts, and no cloud sync. Your settings and your list of added torrents never leave your device.

The app also writes small per-torrent “resume data” files (libtorrent fast-resume blobs) to its private app storage, one per torrent, named by info-hash. These simply record which pieces of a torrent have already been downloaded, so a paused or closed torrent can resume without re-checking data from scratch. They never leave your device either.

2. Network Exposure Inherent to BitTorrent

This is the most important section of this policy — please read it even if you skip the rest.

Horizon Torrent embeds libtorrent, a standard implementation of the BitTorrent protocol. When you add a magnet link, the app, by design:

While any of the above is happening, your public IP address is visible to the trackers, to every peer in that torrent's swarm, and to the wider DHT network. This is inherent to how BitTorrent works as a peer-to-peer protocol — it is not something Horizon Torrent does to observe you, and there is no server of ours sitting in between that logs or intercepts it, because the app has no backend at all. Put simply: your personal settings and torrent list never leave your device, but using BitTorrent inherently means your IP address is visible to trackers and peers while a torrent is active — which no BitTorrent app, including this one, can prevent.

Horizon Torrent does not bundle or configure any proxy, VPN, or IP-anonymization feature. If you want to hide your IP address from trackers and peers, you need to use your own third-party VPN or proxy solution outside the app.

3. Data Collected Automatically

None. Horizon Torrent does not use analytics, crash reporting, or telemetry of any kind, and does not include any advertising SDK. The app's dependencies are Flutter itself, flutter_bloc, go_router, shared_preferences, path_provider, ffi, http, flutter_screenutil, and cupertino_icons — none of these are analytics, crash-reporting, or ad vendors, and nothing from Firebase, Sentry, Crashlytics, or AdMob is present in the app.

4. Data We Do NOT Collect

Horizon Torrent does not collect, store, or share:

The Android app requests exactly one permission: Internet access, which it needs to connect to trackers and peers as described above. No storage, camera, microphone, contacts, or location permissions are requested.

5. Data Retention & Deletion

Your settings, magnet-link list, and resume-data files all live in Android's standard app-private storage. Uninstalling Horizon Torrent permanently deletes all of it. There is no server-side copy to separately request deletion of, because the app has no server.

6. Legal & Content Disclaimer

Horizon Torrent is a generic peer-to-peer file transfer client, comparable to qBittorrent or Deluge. It does not host, index, curate, or recommend any content. The developer has no visibility into and no control over what content any given user chooses to download via a magnet link they supply themselves. You are solely responsible for complying with the copyright and content laws of your jurisdiction.

7. Children's Privacy

Horizon Torrent is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. If you believe a child has used the app, please contact us and we will take appropriate action.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected with an updated “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
